The Rite of Spring

Album by Igor Fyodorovitch Stravinsky & Philharmonia Orchestra & Eliahu Inbal

The Rite of Spring is a ballet and orchestral work by Russian composer Igor Stravinsky, premiered in 1913. Its use of driving, irregular rhythms, dissonant harmonies, expanded orchestration and shifting metres, alongside themes drawn from pagan ritual, represented a decisive break with late-Romantic norms and significantly influenced 20th-century music and dance.
