Symphony no. 3

Album by Gustav Mahler & Kerstin Meyer & Hallé Choir & Boys of Manchester Grammar School & Hallé Orchestra & Sir John Barbirolli

Symphony No. 3 is the third symphony by Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, completed in 1896. The sprawling late-Romantic work employs very large orchestral forces, vocal elements and an expansive formal design that combines folk-influenced motifs, chromatic harmony and episodic textures, marking a significant point in Mahler's development toward large-scale symphonic writing.
