Symphony no. 1
Album by Jean Sibelius & Peeter Lilje
Symphony No. 1 is the first symphony by Finnish composer Jean Sibelius, completed and premiered in 1899. The work displays late-Romantic orchestral textures, prominent brass and string sonorities and cyclical thematic development, and it represents an early, formative statement in Sibelius's career as he bridged Romantic traditions with emerging Finnish national identity.
