Symphonies nos. 1 & 8
Album by Franz Schubert & Wiener Philharmoniker & Riccardo Muti
Symphonies nos. 1 and 8 are orchestral works by Austrian composer Franz Schubert, composed in 1813 and 1822 respectively. Musically, the works range from the Classical clarity and early Romantic lyricism of the first symphony to the darker, fragmentary textures and brooding melodies of the eighth, and they show Schubert's move from his student roots to a more personal orchestral voice in the early 1820s.
