Symphony no. 3 "Eroica" / Coriolan Overture

Two orchestral works by Ludwig van Beethoven were composed in the early 19th century, with the larger symphony completed around 1804 and the overture written in 1807. They illustrate Beethoven's move towards a more expansive and dramatic classical idiom, characterised by extended thematic development, innovative harmonic progressions and a greater emphasis on orchestral colour that signalled a shift toward the Romantic era.
