String Quartets D87 & D810
Album by Franz Schubert & Henschel Quartett
String Quartets D.87 and D.810 are two string quartets by Franz Schubert, composed in 1813 and 1824 respectively. Musically they illustrate a progression in Schubert's chamber writing from the early quartet's classical-influenced lyricism and transparent textures to the later work's darker, more turbulent D minor writing, expanded harmonic language and greater dramatic contrast that anticipates his late, more exploratory chamber music.
