Album by Hector Berlioz & Minnesota Orchestra & Osmo Vänskä
Symphonie fantastique is a program symphony by French composer Hector Berlioz, composed in 1830. The work employs vivid orchestration, dramatic contrasts, an expanded orchestra and a recurring idée fixe to depict a programme of autobiographical and fantastical episodes, and it occupies a central place in Berlioz's output and in the development of nineteenth-century orchestral technique.
