Brandenburg Concertos nos. 1, 5 & 6
Album by Johann Sebastian Bach & Festival Strings Lucerne & Rudolf Baumgartner
Brandenburg Concertos Nos. 1, 5 & 6 is a collection of works by Johann Sebastian Bach, originally composed and presented as part of the Brandenburg Concertos in 1721. The pieces employ Baroque concerto grosso textures with contrasting solo and ensemble writing, energetic rhythms and intricate counterpoint, and they occupy an important place in Bach's instrumental output and in the development of the late Baroque concerto repertoire.
