Album by Ralph Vaughan Williams & Elizabeth Watts & Mary Bevan & Kitty Whately & Royal College of Music Brass Ensemble & BBC Symphony Orchestra & Martyn Brabbins
A London Symphony is the second symphony by English composer Ralph Vaughan Williams, completed in 1913 and first performed in 1914. The four-movement orchestral work combines expansive late-Romantic textures with modal harmonies and folk-influenced melodic material to evoke both pastoral and urban aspects of London, and it represents an early statement of Vaughan Williams's English orchestral style.
