Requiem, op. 48
Album by Gabriel Fauré & The Saint Thomas Choir of Men and Boys & Orchestra of St. Luke’s & John Scott
Requiem, Op. 48 is a choral work by French composer Gabriel Fauré, composed between 1887 and 1890. Marked by restrained orchestration, luminous choral writing and an emphasis on consolation rather than dramatic terror, the Requiem occupies a significant place in Fauré's output and in late 19th-century French sacred music for its blending of traditional liturgical form with a more intimate, lyrical harmonic language.
