Concertos for Harpsichord and Strings
Album by Johann Sebastian Bach & Ivor Bolton & St. James’ Baroque
Concertos for Harpsichord and Strings is a collection of harpsichord concertos by Johann Sebastian Bach, composed c. 1738–1741. They are Baroque concertos that blend virtuosic harpsichord writing with string ensemble textures and use imitative counterpoint and lively rhythmic drive, and they come from Bach's mature Leipzig period when he reworked earlier material and expanded the keyboard concerto repertoire.
