King Arthur / The Indian Queen

Album by Henry Purcell

King Arthur and The Indian Queen are semi-operas by English composer Henry Purcell, first performed in 1691 and 1695 respectively. They exemplify Restoration-era English Baroque theatre music, combining spoken drama with extended vocal arias, choruses, dances and instrumental passages, and they represent some of Purcell's final contributions to stage music, with The Indian Queen left incomplete at his death.
