Messiah is an oratorio by George Frideric Handel, composed in 1741. The work is a Baroque oratorio for chorus, solo voices and orchestra that combines recitative and aria forms with contrapuntal choruses and festive orchestral passages, and it was composed during Handel's later period in England where it influenced the English choral tradition.
