Symphony no. 2 In C Minor edited by W. Carragan (1872 & 1873)
Album by Anton Bruckner & Kurt Eichhorn & Bruckner Orchester Linz
Symphony No. 2 in C minor is the second symphony by Austrian composer Anton Bruckner, originating in 1872–1873 and presented here in an edition of those early versions. The score displays Bruckner's early symphonic language with expansive orchestration, prominent brass chorales, dramatic climaxes and evolving formal structures, and the 1872–1873 versions reveal developmental ideas that illuminate the progression toward his later, larger-scale symphonies.
