Symphony No. 2, 'Resurrection', is the second symphony by Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, completed in 1894 and first performed in 1895. A vast late-Romantic work combining large orchestra, choir and vocal soloists, it moves from sombre funeral-march material to expansive, hymn-like textures and dramatic dynamic contrasts, and represents a key work in Mahler's mature symphonic output that expanded the scale and expressive range of the genre.
