Chout / Lieutenant Kijé Suite is a collection of orchestral suites by Sergei Prokofiev, composed in 1916 and 1934 respectively. The music combines colourful, often sardonic orchestration, driving rhythms and lyrical themes rooted in early 20th-century Russian modernism, and the pieces mark a transition in Prokofiev's output from his earlier experimental stage works towards more narrative, film-influenced orchestral writing.
