Floodplain is a studio album by American string ensemble Kronos Quartet, released in 2009. The album blends contemporary classical string-quartet writing with material drawn from Middle Eastern, South Asian and Central Asian musical traditions, employing extended techniques, drones and varied rhythmic textures as part of the group's ongoing exploration of cross-cultural repertoire and expansion of the quartet's sonic palette.
