Symphony No. 4

Album by Gustav Mahler & Vladimir Mikhailovich Jurowski & Sofia Fomina & London Philharmonic Orchestra

Symphony No. 4 is the fourth symphony by Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, composed between 1899 and 1901. Lighter in orchestration than some of his other late-Romantic symphonies and notable for its intimate textures and a concluding soprano solo that evokes a child's vision of heaven, it occupies a transitional place in Mahler's output between the grand, large-scale works of the 1890s and his later, more austere creations.
