Sinfonia Antartica
Album by Ralph Vaughan Williams & London Philharmonic Orchestra & London Philharmonic Choir & Bernard Haitink
Sinfonia Antartica is the seventh symphony by English composer Ralph Vaughan Williams, composed between 1949 and 1952. Adapted from his film music, the work enlarges the orchestral palette with wordless female chorus, a soprano solo and prominent percussion to evoke polar landscapes and represents an example of his late-period, atmospheric symphonic writing.

First released: 13th October 1986
