Symphony no. 9 "The Great"
Album by Franz Schubert & Georgian SIMI Festival Orchestra & Nodar Tsatishvili
Symphony No. 9 in C major, D.944, known as 'The Great', is a symphony by Austrian composer Franz Schubert, completed in 1826. Musically it is rooted in the Classical-Romantic tradition, with long-span melodies, expansive harmonic progressions, varied orchestral colours and dense contrapuntal passages that give the work a wide-ranging scale, and it is one of Schubert's late large-scale orchestral works completed near the end of his short life.
First released: 1997
