New World Symphony (No. 5 in E minor)

Album by Antonín Dvořák & Wiener Festspiele Orchester & Maurice Abravanel

Symphony No. 9 in E minor, "From the New World", is a symphony by Czech composer Antonín Dvořák, completed in 1893 during his time in the United States. The work combines Romantic-era orchestration with influences from Czech folk music and American musical idioms, employing broad, lyrical themes, dramatic contrasts and an expanded orchestral palette that marked an important point in Dvořák's career and in late-19th-century symphonic practice.
First released: 1959
