Symphonies nos. 1 & 5 is a two-symphony set by Felix Mendelssohn, composed in 1824 and 1830 respectively. They exemplify Mendelssohn's early Romantic orchestral style, blending classical forms with lyrical melodies, brisk scherzos and transparent, brightly coloured orchestration, and together they illustrate his development from youthful exuberance to a more ceremonious, reflective approach within his symphonic output.
