Burning Spirits is an album by American saxophonist Sonny Simmons, released in 1971. Musically, it is rooted in free jazz and avant-garde jazz, with extended improvisation, raw alto saxophone textures, shifting group dynamics and moments of quiet lyricism, and it was released as Simmons moved from earlier bop-influenced work toward more experimental sounds in his career.
