Sonny Simmons

Sonny Simmons is an American jazz saxophonist from Sicily Island, Louisiana, who emerged in the 1960s and became associated with free jazz and the West Coast avant-garde scene. He played alto saxophone and English horn, blending hard bop, modal jazz and free improvisation in a career that continued with recordings and performances into the 21st century.
