Symphonies nos. 1, 3 “Eroica”
Album by Ludwig van Beethoven & Wiener Philharmoniker & Simon Rattle
Symphonies Nos. 1 and 3 'Eroica' are orchestral works by Ludwig van Beethoven, composed and first performed in 1800 and 1804 respectively. The First Symphony consolidates Classical forms with clear structures and energetic orchestration, while the Third ('Eroica') substantially expands symphonic scale, harmonic language and dynamic contrasts and is regarded as a turning point that helped steer his music towards the Romantic era.
