Das Lied von der Erde is a symphonic song cycle by Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, composed in 1908–1909 and first performed in 1911. Blending late-Romantic orchestration with solo vocal writing set to German translations of Chinese poetry, it combines symphonic scale and intimate vocal expression and represents a late-period work that links Mahler's symphonies with the Lied tradition.
