Partitas and Canonic Variations

Album by Johann Sebastian Bach & Christopher Herrick

Partitas and Canonic Variations is a collection of keyboard works by Johann Sebastian Bach, drawn from pieces composed between about 1726 and 1747. The music pairs dance-based Partitas with a set of canonic variations that use close counterpoint and ornamented keyboard writing, and it sits among Bach's mature keyboard output as an example of his work in both the suite tradition and contrapuntal study.
