The Six Suites for Solo Cello (BWV 1007–1012) are a set of six suites composed by Johann Sebastian Bach around 1717–1723. They exemplify Baroque solo instrumental writing, using implied polyphony and dance-form movements to expand the technical and expressive possibilities of the cello, and they occupy a central position in the instrument's repertoire and in studies of Baroque performance practice.
