Romeo and Juliet is a ballet composed by Сергей Сергеевич Прокофьев in 1935–36. The score is an orchestral, neo-classical work characterised by recurring motifs, a strong rhythmic drive, pronounced dissonance and vivid orchestration, and it occupies an important place in Prokofiev's output as a mature synthesis of his melodic and dramatic language.
