Symphony no. 5 + 8

Album by Ludwig van Beethoven & Günter Wand & NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester

Symphonies No. 5 and No. 8 are orchestral works by Ludwig van Beethoven, completed in 1808 and 1812 respectively. Musically, the Fifth is driven by a short rhythmic motif and expansive developmental structure characteristic of Beethoven's middle period, while the Eighth is shorter and lighter in character with classical proportions and scherzo-like elements, placing it between his middle- and late-period innovations in his symphonic output.
