Symphony No. 6, Pathétique is the sixth and final completed symphony by Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, premiered in 1893. The work is rooted in the late-Romantic orchestral repertoire and is characterised by expansive lyrical themes, stark dramatic contrasts, rich orchestration and an unusually sombre final movement that marks a culmination of Tchaikovsky's orchestral writing.
