Symphony No. 8 / Cello Concerto
Album by Antonín Dvořák & Gregor Piatigorsky & Boston Symphony Orchestra & Charles Munch
Symphony No. 8 / Cello Concerto is a pairing of orchestral works by Czech composer Antonín Dvořák, composed in 1889 and 1894–95 respectively. Both pieces exemplify Dvořák's late-Romantic idiom, combining folk-influenced melodies with rich orchestration and prominent instrumental writing for the orchestra and solo cello, and they occupy a central place in his mature output as key statements of his national style.
