Symphony no. 3 "Eroica"
Album by Ludwig van Beethoven & Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique & Sir John Eliot Gardiner
Symphony No. 3 in E-flat major, Op. 55, commonly known as the Eroica, is the third symphony by Ludwig van Beethoven, composed in 1803–1804 and first performed in 1805. It marks a pivotal shift into Beethoven's middle “heroic” period, expanding symphonic scale and orchestral forces and introducing motivic development and structural and harmonic innovations that shaped later 19th-century symphonic practice.
