Cello Sonatas, Op. 5 is a set of two sonatas for cello and piano by Ludwig van Beethoven, composed in 1796. They are written in the Classical style with close interaction between cello and piano and they expand the cello's technical role within chamber music, dating from Beethoven's early period when he began to extend Classical forms.
