Stabat Mater
Album by Antonín Dvořák & Accentus & Laurence Equilbey
Stabat Mater is a large-scale choral-orchestral work by Czech composer Antonín Dvořák, completed in 1877. The setting of the medieval Stabat Mater sequence employs Romantic-era orchestration and expressive vocal writing with echoes of Czech melodic idioms, and it occupies an important place in Dvořák's output as his major sacred composition of the 1870s that signalled his development in large-scale vocal and choral forms.
