Octet in F major for strings and Winds, D.803
Album by Franz Schubert & Berliner Solisten
The Octet in F major for strings and winds, D.803 is an octet composition by Austrian composer Franz Schubert, completed in 1824. Scored for a mixed ensemble of strings and wind instruments, it adopts classical forms infused with early Romantic melody and is characterised by lyrical themes, conversational wind-string textures and an unusually expansive, almost symphonic, scope that situates it among Schubert's important chamber works of the 1820s.
