The Wooden Prince (Complete Ballet)
Album by Béla Bartók & Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra & Marin Alsop
The Wooden Prince (Complete Ballet) is a complete-ballet recording of music by Hungarian composer Béla Bartók, based on a score composed and first staged in 1917. The work combines late-Romantic orchestral colour with emerging modernist harmonies, folk-influenced motifs and bold rhythmic ideas, and it occupies a place in Bartók's output as an early work that helped bridge his nationalist roots and his later, more radical modernist style.
