Song of the Forests, Op. 81 is a cantata by Dmitri Shostakovich composed in 1949. The work combines large-scale choral and orchestral forces in a lyrical, folk-inflected socialist realist idiom and is representative of Shostakovich's late-1940s state-commissioned vocal works that reflect the Soviet cultural climate of the period.
