Scheherazade, op. 35
Album by Nikolai Andreyevich Rimsky‐Korsakov & Ensemble K & Simone Menezes
Scheherazade, Op. 35 is a symphonic suite by Russian composer Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, composed in 1888. The work is characterised by vivid orchestral colour, sinuous violin lines that suggest a narrative voice, exotic modal scales and chromatic harmony, and it represents a mature example of Rimsky-Korsakov's late-Romantic orchestral writing that influenced tone-painting in Russian music.
