Symphony no. 11 in G minor, “The Year of 1905”

Album by Dmitri Dmitrievich Shostakovich & Symfonický orchester Slovenského rozhlasu & Ladislav Slovák

Symphony No. 11 in G minor, subtitled 'The Year of 1905', is a symphony by Dmitri Shostakovich, composed in 1957. The four-movement work employs large-scale late-Romantic orchestration with evocative march and lament motifs and programme elements referring to the 1905 Russian Revolution, and it occupies a place in Shostakovich's middle-period output as a publicly oriented, historically referential composition.
First released: March 1993
