Symphony no. 1 "A Sea Symphony"
Album by Ralph Vaughan Williams & Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra & Bournemouth Symphony Chorus & Paul Daniel & Joan Rodgers & Christopher Maltman
A Sea Symphony is the first symphony by English composer Ralph Vaughan Williams, premiered in 1910. The choral symphony combines orchestra and large chorus in expansive, modal-inflected writing that draws on English folk idioms and poetic text settings, and it represents an early milestone in Vaughan Williams's career and in the development of twentieth-century British symphonic music.
