Spartacus, Suites Nos. 1-3

Album by Aram Ilich Khachaturian & St. Petersburg State Symphony Orchestra & Andrei Anikhanov

Spartacus, Suites Nos. 1-3 is a set of three orchestral suites by Armenian composer Aram Il'yich Khachaturian, drawn from his ballet score composed in 1954. The music combines sweeping romantic melodies, bold brass fanfares and lush orchestration characteristic of mid-20th-century Soviet symphonic style, and the suites occupy an important place in Khachaturian's output as examples of his large-scale dramatic writing.
