Album by Franz Schubert & Berliner Philharmoniker & Daniel Barenboim
Symphony No. 9 in C major, D.944, 'The Great' is a symphony by Austrian composer Franz Schubert, composed in 1825–1826. The work features expansive melodies, broad orchestral textures and a synthesis of Classical forms with emerging Romantic harmony, representing a late-period, large-scale symphonic statement that helped bridge Schubert's earlier lyrical writing and the nineteenth-century symphonic tradition.
