Symphony No. 3 in E-flat major, Op. 55, commonly known as the Eroica, is the third symphony by Ludwig van Beethoven, premiered in 1805. Marking a turning point in his middle period, it expands classical symphonic form through greater length, expanded orchestral forces, bold harmonic language and structural innovations that influenced the subsequent Romantic era.
