The Four Seasons

Album by Antonio Vivaldi & Tasmanian Symphony Chamber Players & Barbara Jane Gilby & Geoffrey Lancaster

The Four Seasons is a set of four violin concertos by Italian composer Antonio Vivaldi, published in 1725. The music exemplifies Baroque concerto form, featuring virtuosic solo violin passages, vivid programme-like musical imagery and contrasts between soloist and ensemble, and it occupies an important place in Vivaldi's output and in the development of instrumental programme music in the early 18th century.
