Fantasie in C major, Op. 17 is a fantasy for solo piano by Robert Schumann, composed in 1836 and published in 1839. The work exemplifies Romantic piano writing with sweeping harmonies, dramatic contrasts and virtuosic passages, and it occupies an important place in Schumann's output as a concentrated, large-scale single-movement piece that helped expand the expressive and formal possibilities of the piano repertoire.
