Serenades op. 22 & 44

Album by Antonín Dvořák & Academy of St Martin in the Fields & Sir Neville Marriner

Serenades Op. 22 and Op. 44 are orchestral serenades by Czech composer Antonín Dvořák, composed in 1875 and 1878 respectively. The works exemplify Dvořák's late-Romantic, folk-influenced melodic writing, with Op. 22 exploiting warm, homogenous string textures and Op. 44 exploring contrasting wind timbres and chamber-like interplay that point towards his later larger-scale orchestral writing.
