Stratusphunk

Stratusphunk is an album by the George Russell Sextet, released in 1961. The music is modern jazz that uses modal harmony and extended chordal colours, with tight arrangements for a small-group ensemble and lively exchanges between horns and rhythm that leave space for improvisation, and it came during Russell's early 1960s work on modal composition and small-group arranging.
