A Sea Symphony
Album by Ralph Vaughan Williams & BBC Symphony Orchestra & BBC Symphony Chorus & Sir Andrew Davis
A Sea Symphony is the first symphony by English composer Ralph Vaughan Williams, premiered in 1910. Scored for large orchestra, chorus and vocal soloists, it combines expansive, seascape-inspired orchestration with modal and pastoral harmonic language and marked Vaughan Williams's emergence as a symphonic composer within the early 20th-century English musical revival.
