Pastoral Symphony / Symphony no. 8
Album by Ludwig van Beethoven & Kurt Sanderling
Pastoral Symphony and Symphony No. 8 are symphonies by Ludwig van Beethoven, completed in 1808 and 1812 respectively. Both works reflect Beethoven's classical-period roots while exploring programme-like natural imagery and concise, sometimes playful forms, with the Sixth emphasising bucolic, descriptive passages and the Eighth presenting compact, scherzo-like movements that gesture towards later Romantic developments.
